Characteristics of Bright Tin Plating
Parts finished with bright tin have a shiny, aesthetically pleasing surface finish with a high degree of luster. Bright tin also has a small grain size of about 0.1 um in the sub-micron range.
This type of tin provides a lower coefficient of friction for mating with other parts, circuit boards, and connectors than the alternative, matte tin. The smaller grain size presents a more uniform surface for reflecting light, giving it a shiny appearance (learn about matte tin plating).
